Congratulations to Brian and Angie!!!

Cheers to Brian and Angie! They are expecting their first child in early January! I am so excited that our children will be so close in age. Angie is 12 weeks pregnant and has experienced NO morning sickness, that's right NO morning sickness. Go ahead, be jealous...

I am so happy that Angie is doing well and feeling good. Brian and Angie heard a healthy heartbeat at 156 bpm. A few more weeks and we will know if we are having a neice or nephew! I can't wait! Stay tuned...

Here I am to save the day...

I feel like Wonder Woman this morning. Why you may ask? I accomplished something that stumped the most brilliant mind in all the land...Jeff's. Haha! I figured out how to program our new TV so that the remote control flips through the channels. Jeff has been home every night manually punching in the channel he would like to watch. He attempted to correct the problem, but resolved that he would just call Sony over the weekend. I took today off and before 8:00AM fixed the problem. How? BY READING THE MANUAL! I found the section on programming channels for your TV, ran the program and 20 minutes later...we have 117 channels (we used to have 60), including 35 radio channels, AND HD cable. GO ME! What else will I accomplish today?

Family Fun

This weekend Jeff and I traveled back to Grand Rapids to celebrate Father's Day weekend. Saturday we went up to the cottage to spend some time with the Burch clan. Brian/Angie gave Jeff a very special Father's Day gift...an MSU onesie for our little boy! How cute!

Saturday evening my mom and dad made dinner. My cousin Lisa was in town from Atlanta. She is 18 weeks pregnant and as you can see from the picture above, looks fabulous! My cousin Jessica her husband Nick, and little one Gabby also joined us for dinner. It was great to spend some time with family that I don't get to see very often.

Sunday was very relaxing...Jeff and I went to 8:00 church...early! Then, went to breakfast with my Grandpa Dean. Jeff went back up to the lake and I stayed home to relax with my parents. I enjoyed a wonderful two hour nap, and then went for a nice walk with my parents and little Eva. We had such a great weekend!

The countdown begins...

Batman Begins comes out on BLU RAY July 7th! I am so excited to watch Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman in this format. Blu ray is unbelievable, the first disc you choose to fire up in a new format can be akin to a religious experience. I am saving this experience for the perfect movie...Batman Begins. 24 days until the magic happens. Can I hold out? I think so...

Somebody Upstairs Loves Me!

Ahhhhhh! I just discovered that THE most fashionably chic home furnishings store known to man/woman just came out with a baby & child collection! To say that I am thrilled would be a gross understatement. Right when I had given up on finding nursery bedding for my little boy that I love, Restoration Hardware launched this brand new line. I am so excited! I have my favorite bedding picked out already...600 thread count Italian sateen bedding. OK, now you may be thinking, "Jacqueline, does an infant honestly need 600 thread count bedding?" My answer to you is, "Absolutely." There are a few luxuries in life that I believe no one should go without, and ridiculously comfy bedding is on the top of my list. I mean you sleep on your bed EVERY night. Can you really put a price on sleeping in comfort/style?

Wow

First, I would like to start off by announcing that I am officially 20 weeks pregnant today! This may not seem like much to the common reader, but any pregnant woman knows what the 20 week marker means...the half-way mark! I cannot believe that I am halfway through my pregnancy already. It seems like just last week, I found out!

Another "wow" for the week. Last night, I was noticing how big my tummy has gotten. Jeff always says that I don't look any bigger, so I told him he needed to FEEL how I have grown to get a clue. So, he agreed. Suddenly, he jerked his hand away abruptly and said in an alarmed voice, "I think I just moved the baby!" I put my hand where he was feeling and sure enough he was right. Then, out of nowhere I felt a little kick! I have to say it caught me off guard. I am used to feeling the little "butterflies," but this was a strong, healthy jab. I don't know what we started, but he did not settle down for 20 minutes! I was trying to fall asleep and he was just kicking away. My new nickname for him is "Baby Beckham."

Sunday at Beaumont

I woke up this morning abruptly at 5:00 AM after feeling a cramp in my leg and numbness in my toes. I reached down to massage my leg and there was a golf ball size knot/swelling on my calf. I said aloud "Jeff, wake up something is wrong." I was amazed at how quickly he sprung into action. Not only did he wake up right away, but he was incredibly attentive for being woken up out of a dead sleep. The swelling went away after 30 seconds, but I was still very alarmed. Pregnant women are at high risk for blood clots, which if left untreated can make their way to the lungs and result in death.

I called my doctor who instructed me to go to the hospital if the tenderness did not subside after an hour. Well, an hour and a hot compress later my leg was still sore. So, Jeff and I drove to Beaumont and spent the morning there.

I was very impressed with the hospital's emergency room staff/procedures. We did not wait 5 minutes at any stage of our visit. I received a vascular ultrasound and (sigh of relief) everything checked out OK. I most likely strained a muscle, and slept on my leg funny, resulting in the swelling. Ahh, the joys of being pregnant...you strain muscles you didn't even know you had! The doctor and nurses made me feel very much at ease and told me it was the right thing to come in and have it checked out, especially since I am pregnant and at higher risk for certain things. Personally, I felt a little silly being wheeled around in a hospital bed when I looked/felt fine for the most part. Oh well, Jeff reminded me that peace of mind is priceless. He is such a great husband. I told him I am just checking out his response time for when I go into labor this fall...haha.

18 Weeks

What a difference two weeks can make! I feel like I am looking more pregnant by the hour. I kind of like having a little bump, now people at least know that I am pregnant and not just enjoying my Dairy Queen too much!
